Parking Zone Changes Approved
The proposed zone changes for 2012/13 have been approved and will go into effect prior to the fall semester in August 2012.
The reasons for the changes include:
To reallocate a portion of the Blue 1 zone to Gray 1 due to the parking displacement from the construction of the Northside Residence Hall. At the request of the Regents, Parking and Transportation Services replaced the parking displacement versus reducing the number of parking spaces available for resident priority parking. Concerns regarding event parking in the Beasley area are being addressed with Athletics and Beasley Coliseum. Commuter permit parking on the north side of campus can be accommodated in the Yellow 1 lot south of Beasley, the Red 2 lot by the Indoor Practice Facility or the Blue 1 lot near the South Fairway Playfield. Commuter travel can also be accommodated with Park and Ride options. Permits are not required in Park and Ride lots.

- Realign Gray 1 zone parking lots near residence halls to Crimson. The rezoning of Gray 1 in the lot east of Beasley Coliseum resulted in Gray 1 spaces directly next to residence halls with a higher value than currently zoned. Similar to parking lots directly next to the Hill Halls, these Gray 1 lots were changed to Crimson 1.
- Realign Yellow zone parking lots near residence halls to match the surrounding Green zones. The Yellow lots directly next to the residence halls are in areas of high parking demand and have a higher value than currently zoned. There are Yellow permit parking options available within a short walking distance of the residence halls for those who do not wish to upgrade to a Green permit.
- To reallocate a portion of the Green 1 zone to Green 3 to manage permit allocation and improve customer service.
- To reallocate underutilized meter spaces to zone parking. The lot in front of Streit-Perham will become a mixed use lot of Green 2, meters, and service. This lot will continue to be used for Residence Hall Move In.
