Pullman Police to Enforce Parking Codes
on College Hill During Home Games

Safety concerns related to emergency vehicle access on College Hill during home football games have prompted the City of Pullman continue strict enforcement of parking violations.

Pullman Police Chief Ted Weatherly said the step up in parking enforcement patrols on College Hill results from past instances in which illegally parked vehicles have threatened the city’s ability to get emergency vehicles into the area during home football games, thereby creating potential safety problems for local residents, drivers and pedestrians.

“Our goal is to make football weekends safer for the public and to make sure that emergency vehicles can access this popular area of the city on these weekends,” Weatherly said of the emphasis on enforcing parking codes in the area.

Any vehicle blocking or impeding emergency vehicles will be towed, Weatherly said.

Information on alternate parking options and Park and Ride locations will be made available on the WSU campus and within the Greek community.

Emphasis patrols will focus on existing no-parking zones, where city police have often shown leniency in ticketing parked vehicles during home games in the past.

Specific locations to be the focus of the renewed emphasis on parking enforcement during home games are:

  • Maple Street Extension
  • Colorado from Maple Street Extension to Thatuna
  • Alpha Street
  • 'C' Street from Alpha to Colorado
  • 'D' Street from Alpha to Colorado
  • Campus from Maple to Thatuna
  • Oak from Maple to Monroe
  • Ruby from Oak to California
  • California from 'B' Street to Ruby
  • Linden Street
